Welcome to the October 2020 Business Breakfast.
Come along and meet local business people from across Ashfield and Mansfield, whilst enjoying a delicious full cooked breakfast.
This month Portland Charity is our meeting sponsor and we are delighted to announce that we have George Nelson from the Oar Blimey rowing challenge coming along to speak. Mansfield based George and his partner on this epic adventure Russ Davis, are on a mission to raise £250,000 by rowing 3,500 nautical miles across the Atlantic to help people live with dementia.
Rowing across the Atlantic Ocean is one of the world's toughest challenges; physically and psychologically. With only weeks to go before Oar Blimey start their Atlantic crossing, George will outline their strategy to raise awareness, support and funds, and will explain why this challenge is necessary for our local community. Almost one million people in the UK are living with dementia. With population growth and people living longer, this number is increasing.
Our meeting sponsor Portland Charity operates an Ofsted Outstanding specialist college, a residential and day care provision, a mental health and employment service and is a Centre of Excellence for Autism. Its vision is that all people with disabilities will have a lifetime of opportunity, and each year the charity supports over 2,500 people with disabilities to achieve their goals. Its main campus is in Mansfield and it operates from a number of hubs across the county.
As well as the talks and updates, we will have our fantastic breakfast and opportunities for networking and meeting new contacts. Please note that this meeting will be held on Thursday 26th October and future breakfast meetings will now be held on a Thursday.
