Welcome to the May 2020 Business Breakfast

Come along and meet up to 100 local businesses from across Ashfield and Mansfield, whilst enjoying a delicious full cooked breakfast.

This months breakfast meeting is sponsored by our member Sarah McNicol - New Chapter Coach.

Do you sometimes feel so busy keeping the plates spinning that you don't have time or space to enjoy your success, let alone make changes?

Sarah McNicol will show you how to approach business (and life) from the Inside Out so you can have more ease, enjoyment, clarity, and impact.

Our guest speaker this month is Gerald Ratner - The British Businessman famed for his fabulous speech at the Institute of Directors which saw millions wiped off the companies share price overnight.

Gerald's appearance has been sponsored by our Patrons - Nottingham Trent University and West Notts College alongside Mansfield and Ashfield 2020 as a joint collaboration to bring this outstanding business personality and well known speaker to talk to our business members and local students.

We hope to see you all there!

After burning out age 45 Sarah re-purposed her 20 years of coaching expertise to focus on how she wanted to feel inside, rather than reaching outside for external goals. She re-designed her life and work to provide enjoyment, well-being, purpose and profit in that order. Today Sarah feels like a pig in muck in her work helping successful business leaders make the impact they want and still have time and energy for themselves.

  • Gerald Ratner

    Gerald Ratner

Gerald Ratner is a British businessman. He was formerly chief executive officer of the major British jewellery company Ratners Group (now the Signet Group)
Gerald Ratner was born in London to a Jewish family and based his philosophy of business on his experiences as a boy in Petticoat Lane Market.
Ratner joined the family business in 1966 and built up an extremely successful chain of jewellers during the 1980s, of which he was CEO.
He achieved notoriety after making a speech in which he jokingly denigrated two of the company's products.
We also do cut-glass sherry decanters complete with six glasses on a silver-plated tray that your butler can serve you drinks on, all for £4.95. People say, "How can you sell this for such a low price?", I say, "because it's total crap."
He compounded this by going on to remark that one of the sets of earrings was "cheaper than a prawn sandwich from Marks and Spencer’s, but I have to say the sandwich will probably last longer than the earrings".
He now runs, the UK's largest online jewellery business Gerald Online.
Gerald Ratner is very much in demand as a business speaker and has also built an American business from scratch, building it to over 1000 shops in the USA becoming one of the few UK retailers to succeed on the other side of the Atlantic.
